"Kiss an Artist Today"

Bumper stickers carry a variation on many themes.  The most recent one that got my attention was “kiss an artist today.”  That’s easy for me.  My wife and daughter are both artists.  But the thought is expansive and the worth universal.

John Powell tells about two men who were brother priests.  They had for many years experienced a rich and rewarding friendship.  They had struggled together through the wilderness of long seminary training and had worked together in a community ministry.  But that friendship ended in tragedy.  One of the two friends was hit by a car and killed in front of the residence where the two men lived in their Christian community.  When the other was informed that his friend lay dead in the street, he went running, cut through the onlookers and police and knelt at the side of his friend.  He gently cradled the brother’s head in his arms and before all those people blurted out, “Don’t die. You can’t die!  I never told you that I loved you!”

It could happen to any one of us, but it need not.  Before this day ends, tell a person of your love.  Show that love in action.
